Craft Breweries We Love

There are so many craft breweries all over France.   Here’s a very short list of some favorites:

Brasserie Outland (France – Fontenay-sous-Bois) – owner Jann spent time in California learning the trade and their beer shows it, their hoppy pale ales, west coast style IPA’s and recent collaborations are amazing!  Available at many craft beer bars and stores in the east of Paris. Open for visits most evenings except Sundays and Mondays.

Brasserie du Grand Paris (France – Saint-Denis) – Anthony and Fabrice have been producing many great beers since 2011 including one of our favorites IPA Citra Galactique, available more and more widely across Paris.

Brasserie Croix de Chavaux– (France – Montreuil) – Fred and Mike make some wonderful beer which you can find in Montreuil and the eastern edge of Paris. Fred is the owner and Mike taught half of Paris how to make beer at Brew Unique (now closed sadly) over the years. This place is fun, the essence of Montreuil! Bar is open 4-11pm most nights except Sundays. Fantastic local crowd with great bands Friday and Saturday nights…you’ll have a blast!

Soquee Brewing– (France – Paris) – The brewer Andrew makes some incredibly tasty beers which can be found at many of the craft bars and stores in Paris. Open for tastings from 5-8pm Wednesday, Thursday and Friday in the 20th arrondissement of Paris.

O’clock Brewing (France – Bois d’Arcy) – Brewing since 2015 to the west of Paris, these guys make some of our very favorite beers in the region. The IPAs are top notch as are the stouts. Fairly easy to find in Paris wherever great craft beer is available. Far outside Paris, but open for visits in late afternoon except Sundays. Expanded hours on Friday and Saturday.

Crazy Hops (France – Vaux-sur-Lunain) – formerly brasserie de l’Ourcq, owner Jerome has been making great beer for years and keeps getting better, a master at experimentation and a move to a larger facility in October 2014 has led to bigger and better beer from this local favorite.  Often available in many places including Hoppy Corner in the center of Paris. Open for visits most weekdays, more than an hour to the southeast of Paris.

Brasserie de la Goutte d’Or (France – Paris 18eme) – first new microbrewery in Paris opened in 2012, with several very good beers including spicy Chateau Rouge, light Myrrh, and hoppy Ernestine that are available in many craft beer stores in Paris.  Free tours and tastings available Wednesday through Saturday evenings, in the 18th arrondissement.

Brasserie Correzienne (France – Correze) – nice range of beers, Dordorgne Valley and various Hop-hop-hop brews are favorites, available at many craft beer stores, La Fine Mousse and Supercoin.  Brewery is open for tastings and purchases in the afternoon six days a week during the summer and three days a week during winter.
